Entries open: 18.11.2023
The Quiet Series is an opportunity to offer a more inclusive environment for powerlifters who may feel overwhelmed with traditional competitions.
Entry for the YNE
Quiet Series, presented by @afkstrengthgym partnered with @shawmind_, opens at 9am on the 18th of November.
Priority entry opens on at 9am on the 17th November for those with
volunteer priority points.
The competition
initially accommodates 28 lifters, with the possibility of additional spaces depending on the distribution between bench-only and full-power lifters.
The aim is to make
powerlifting more accessible to everyone. This competition is open to both new and experienced lifters who may have found the thought of a loud event in unfamiliar surroundings a barrier to
competing.
This will be a small sanctioned competition run to IPF standards
but in calmer more intimate surroundings.
Each lifter is permitted one handler each with the addition of a
chaperone or carer for Sub-junior and registered disabled lifters.
This is a closed competition, so there will be no spectators
permitted.
Lifters have the option to visit the establishment beforehand,
ensuring maximum comfort and confidence on the competition day.
There will be no music with minimal MC
involvement.
There will be no flashing/extreme
lighting.
There will be a quiet lifters only room available after weigh in
and competitors will be permitted to wear noise reducing ear plugs on the platform.
Lifters will be able to opt out of any platform photographs.
There will also be no photography in the warm up area.
A guide to the running order of the day will be released so you
know exactly what to expect. This will include photos of the gym and the referees and volunteers for the day.
Mental health first aiders will be available throughout the day
if anybody is struggling.
The numbers for
this competition will be extremely limited. If you are comfortable entering a standard competition you are encouraged to do so to leave vacancies for those less likely to feel comfortable at those
type of events.
